Maths isn't what it used to be
We're so lucky this year to have employed an expert in Mathematics Education and the teaching of numeracy who will work with our students and teachers on Thursdays. It's the third day of school for 2019 and children are busy counting, making patterns, estimating, talking about numbers and sharing their ideas on how Mathematics works.
This way of working strengthens the neural pathways in the brain improving understanding and recall. It's different to the way we as adults would have learned maths at school but it is so much more effective.
There's so much joy in hearing kids say they love numbers and the stories those numbers tell.
2019 is going to be a great year of maths!
